Origin Story

In 2023, a transformative year that witnessed the arrival of our precious baby boy, Spy Fitness was born. This venture is not just a business; it's a passion project, crafted from a shared dream and a wealth of experience in personal training and lifestyle coaching.

As new parents navigating the whirlwind of joy and challenges that came with welcoming our little one, we found ourselves at a crossroads. The desire to create a life centered around family, purpose, and a commitment to health became the driving force behind our decision to embark on this entrepreneurial journey.

The decision to establish our own fitness programming business was grounded in the belief that true transformation is a holistic journey. With a firm grasp on the interconnectedness of movement, nutrition, and lifestyle habits, we knew that a more personalized and intimate approach was essential to guide our clients towards their healthiest selves.

Becoming parents underscored the importance of this mission. We understood firsthand the challenges of balancing personal well-being with the demands of family life. Spy Fitness emerged as our answer—a venture rooted in the conviction that small businesses have the power to offer a level of personalized care and attention that larger entities simply cannot match.

Client Testimonials

Kenneth Spy was my personal trainer from February 2021 until November 2023. It had been a year since the Covid shutdown, and I was physically in bad shape. I had severe osteoporosis and lacked muscle mass. Going up and down the stairs was painful, and I had poor balance. My daughter found Kenny, who was working at Equinox at the time, and we agreed to three one-hour sessions a week, scheduled within my home. Kenny was always punctual and worked diligently to devise and, if necessary, alter my exercise routine. He was respectful, wearing a mask when I requested that, and knowledgeable. His training was thorough in physical training and even physical therapy while his ability to incorporate this knowledge into a practical program for me was notable. I give Kenny my highest recommendation. I was sad to see him move to North Carolina, but he was generous enough to send me an exercise program via pdf by email. He truly cares for his patients. I am a much stronger woman than I was almost 3 years ago, and my balance has dramatically improved. You are fortunate to have Kenny as a trainer. He is the best in his profession.

~Amy Scott, Coral Gables, Fl.

I was a man in my early 70s, beset with a recent diagnosis of Type II diabetes, overweight, overworked in a stressful job and most annoyingly, still hobbled from surgery more than seven years ago following a serious injury to my right quadriceps tendon that made it impossible to run, jump, or squat or lift significant weight. I was, in short, a mess, and worse still, a mess in a permanent bad mood. She asked me my goal. I said, basically, I did not want to become one of those feeble old men in a bad mood I see on the streets.

In our first session, Whitney, after diagnosing the neuromuscular deficit I had allowed to build up, outlined a rigorous plan of training which, she assured me, would help restore my strength, endurance and most important, my self-confidence as an athlete--if I worked at it.

I was doubtful. She was not.

Within a few months, I was actually able to jump for the first time in nearly a decade, not once or twice but repeatedly. Within a year, I could sprint the length of the basketball court several times in the course of a half hour workout. I was deadlifting 185 pounds and moving upward. My overall mobility was dramatically improved. And with her help and her deep knowledge of nutrition, I improved my eating habits and increased my water consumption, which she had determined from talking to me was seriously inadequate. Soon I will be a man in my 80s, and I still work with Whitney twice a week, with excellent results.  So now does my wife.

With patience, kindness, a “can-do” spirit that refuses to be judgmental or preachy, with a remarkable understanding of the interconnectedness of brain and body and soul, she gets the job done--if you let her. Aging can be Challenging for all of us. I can't avoid being an old man, but thanks in significant measure to Whitney, I have avoided the feebleness I feared. I feel strong, not weak, and as a result in a much better mood.
